Portugal’s Joao Mario to miss Confederations Cup
LISBON – Portugal midfielder Joao Mario will miss the upcoming Confederations Cup with a calf muscle injury, the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) has confirmed.
The Inter Milan player featured in a 4-0 friendly win at home to Cyprus last weekend but will now sit out Friday’s trip to Latvia in a World Cup qualifier and the Confederations Cup.
The tournament begins in Russia on June 17 with the European champions facing Mexico in their opening game in Kazan the following day.
Joao Mario’s withdrawal leaves Portugal with a squad of 23 including Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined up with his team-mates on Tuesday evening, fresh from helping Real Madrid win the Champions League last weekend.

KV Oostende star Jali consider offers from southafrica

KV OOSTENDE STAR JALI TO CONSIDER OFFERS FROM SOUTH AFRICA

The former Orlando Pirates midfield maestro is in the final 12 months of his contract at the Belgian club
KV Oostende midfielder Andile Jali will consider returning to the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
The 27-year-old player is expected to leave the Belgian First Division A side during the upcoming Transfer Window.
PSL giants Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs are both believed to be monitoring Jali’s situation at Oostende.
His agent Mike Makaab of Prosport International has revealed that the South Africa international has offers from Europe and South Africa.
“We are looking at a move for him‚” Makaab told
Times Media Digital.
“We have been contacted and there has been some interest from both Europe and South Africa,” he added.
“But if he does come back to South Africa it will have to be a lucrative deal for him‚ because he is now an experienced player who is a regular in the national team,” he concluded.
Jali, who made 21 appearances for Oostende during the 2016/17 season, was linked with a possible move to English Championship side Leeds United last year.
However, the move never materialized and the Eastern Cape-born player stayed for another season at the Ostend-based side.

Alves juve have been promised

ALVES: JUVE HAVE BEEN PROMISED FERRARIS FOR CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WIN!

The Italian side face Real Madrid in the final in Cardiff on Saturday and the Brazilian claims they have been promised a reward for victory
Dani Alves has joked that Juventus players have been promised a Ferrari each if they defeat Real Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday evening.
‘Buffon can’t beat Ronaldo to Ballon d’Or’
The Italian side will face Zinedine Zidane’s men in the showpiece game in Cardiff, having vanquished Monaco in the semi-finals.
Juve are well-known for their defensive solidity, and that has been aided by Alves’ stoic performances at right-back, while he has also chipped in with three goals at the other end.
And the Brazil star – formerly of Real’s bitter rivals Barcelona – has claimed that the club’s president has promised him and his team-mates a brand new supercar each if they emerge victorious.
“The only additional motivation is that the president [Andrea Agnelli] has promised us a Ferrari,” he told reporters.
“I hope the president will keep his word.”
Juve last won the Champions League in 1996.

TSHABALALA ‘EMBARRASSED’ TO SAY HE DID WELL FOR KAIZER CHIEFS

Amakhosi have once again beared the brunt of their supporters after another season without silverware

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala is pleased with his contribution to the club, but he expressed his disappointment at their inability to win trophies this past season.

“Thank you for the compliments, but for me it’s difficult to say that I had a great season, or so far I’ve achieved accolades whilst the team didn’t do well,” Tshabalala told the media on Wednesday.

“I’m even embarrassed to say that I did well. I’ve won goal of the month twice. We didn’t have a good season. That’s what overshadowed everything. That’s the biggest thing for me – to contribute and help the team win at least one trophy. I didn’t achieve that. So, I’m very disappointed about that,” Tshabalala said.

The Glamour Boys finished a position higher than the previous campaign, but they still didn’t do enough to take part in next year’s Caf Confederation Cup.

Earlier this week, legendary Chiefs midfielder Tinashe Nengomasha slammed underperforming players at the club, saying only Tshabalala and Willard Katsande were good enough to play for the team.

“I think obviously, playing for a team like Chiefs calibre expectations are higher. You are required to perform week in and week out for a team that is known for winning trophies,” Tshabalala said.

“And when we don’t win trophies, yes we will get criticized. And when we win games, we will still get criticized. And I think it’s how you take criticism. We have to thrive on criticism. Whenever you’re being criticized there are always positives to take out of that, and it builds you as a person. I personally think that we share it as a collective. It’s not tennis, it’s not golf, but football. So, it requires everybody’s effort and contribution to make it a success,” he continued.

“So, I cannot point out players and say, ‘Player 1 didn’t do well, Player 2 didn’t do well’… No, as a player, what I did do to help the other players? It was not enough. So, we didn’t do it as a collective, hence we have to take the punishment as a team,” Tshabalala concluded.

Wimbledon ramps up prize money

Wimbledon ramps up prize money

LONDON – Wimbledon singles champions will cash cheques for £2.2 million (R37 million) this year, the All England Club said on Wednesday.

Andy Murray and Serena Williams earned £2 million for taking home the silverware in the men’s and women’s events at the grass-court Grand Slam last year.

That figure has now been surpassed by a 10 percent hike as Wimbledon prepares for this year’s tournament, which gets under way on July 3 in its latest start date since 1895.

In the last six years, the cash pot for the Wimbledon winners has doubled from £1.1 million.

Wimbledon’s total prize money for 2017 is up by 12.5 percent to £31.6 million, reflecting the huge revenue streams of the world’s most famous tennis tournament.

“We are proud of the important leadership role that Wimbledon plays locally, nationally and internationally, and are committed to continuing to secure the future of the Championships, and of our sport, for years to come,” said All England Club chairman Philip Brook.

However, the Wimbledon champions still earn less than last year’s singles winners at the US Open, who banked £2.7 million.

Madagascar, Mauritius advance in Chan

Madagascar, Mauritius advance in CHAN qualifying

Madagascar and Mauritius have booked their place in the second round of qualifying from the Southern Zone for the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Madagascar claimed an excellent 1-0 away win in Malawi to claim that tie 2-0 on aggregate and set up a second round meeting with Mozambique.

Njiva Rakotoharimalala scored the only goal for the Malagasy early in the second half.
Mauritius were held to a 1-1 draw by Seychelles, but advanced 3-2 on aggregate having claimed a 2-1 victory in the first leg.

They took the lead in Victoria on 15 minutes through Marco Dorza, but Leeroy Corallie equalised five minutes into the second period for Seychelles.

Mauritius will now meet Angola in the second round to be played in July.

Other second round games see Comoros take on Lesotho, Namibia tackle Zimbabwe, Botswana face-off against South Africa and Swaziland play Zambia.

The CHAN tournament is open to national teams that field only players who ply their trade in their domestic leagues.

REAL MADRID TEAM NEWS: INJURIES, SUSPENSIONS AND LINE-UP VS ATLETICO
B yosward ka yange
Everything you need to know ahead of Los Blancos’ derby clash with their city rivals in La Liga on Saturday…
Real Madrid are at home to Atletico Madrid in an exciting derby clash at the Santiago Bernabeu in the Primera Division on Saturday.
Zinedine Zidane’s side lead La Liga by two points from fierce rivals Barcelona and also have a game in hand after their fixture away to Celta Vigo was postponed in February.
Madrid meet Bayern in the CL quarter-finals
Real beat Leganes 4-2 on Wednesday, with Atletico cementing their third place over Sevilla by overcoming Real Sociedad with a 1-0 win on Tuesday. Diego Simeone’s side are currently 10 points behind Real, having played one more match than Los Blancos.
REAL MADRID INJURIES
Raphael Varane returned to action last weekend, but lasted just 10 minutes in the win over Alaves before picking up another injury and the France defender is now set to be sidelined for a key month of action. He’ll miss the derby against Atletico, plus the Clasico clash at home to Barcelona and the double header versus Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
However, Zidane has no other major injury concerns for the derby on Saturday.
REAL MADRID SUSPENSIONS
Cristiano Ronaldo and Dani Carvajal were both rested in the 4-2 win at Leganes on Wednesday in order to avoid a yellow card that would have seen them suspended for the derby, so Zidane has no players banned for the fixture against Atletico.
REAL MADRID POTENTIAL STARTING LINE-UP
With the exception of the injured Varane, Zidane has a full-strength squad availabe for the derby against Atletico and the Frenchman will pick a strong side for the visit of the Rojiblancos.
Keylor vows to silence Madrid jeers
Zidane, whose only home defeat as Real coach came against Atleti last February, will welcome back Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema after all three were left out on Wednesday at Leganes.
Dani Carvajal, like Ronaldo, was left out of that match to avoid incurring a suspension for the derby and the right-back will also be back in the side on Saturday.
ATLETICO TEAM NEWS
Atletico Madrid are back in third place after a fantastic run of results in recent weeks and the Rojiblancos could even be dark horses for the title if they beat Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.
Diego Simeone’s side have won their previous three league visits to Real – the last of which was at the end of February 2016. No other side in the history of La Liga has won three times in a row at the Bernabeu.
Wenger gives Alexis future update
Striker Kevin Gameiro looks set to miss out after lasting just 10 minutes in training on Friday before limping out, while Sime Vrsaljko, Tiago Mendes and Augusto Fernandez are all sidelined – along with subsistute goalkeeper Miguel Angel Moya.
BEST OPTA MATCH FACTS
Real Madrid have beaten Atletico Madrid on more occasions than any other team in La Liga history (86).Real Madrid have found the net in 50 consecutive matches in all competitions, the best run ever for a La Liga side.
Atletico Madrid are the only side in La Liga history to have won at the Santiago Bernabeu on three consecutive trips.
Real Madrid have scored in 41 consecutive games in La Liga, their best ever run in the competition. In fact, Zidane’s side haven’t been shut out in a game in La Liga since Atletico’s last visit to Bernabeu – 0-1 on February 27th last year.
Cristiano Ronaldo has scored more goals against Atletico under Diego Simeone than any other player (14 in all competitions).
Antoine Griezmann has scored in two of his last three games in La Liga at the Santiago Bernabeu (once for Atletico, once for Real Sociedad).

BARCELONA TEAM NEWS: INJURIES, SUSPENSIONS AND LINE-UP VS MALAGA

BARCELONA TEAM NEWS: INJURIES, SUSPENSIONS AND LINE-UP VS MALAGA

Everything you need to know ahead of the Catalans’ La Liga clash at La Rosaleda on Saturday…
Barcelona travel to Malaga in the Primera Division on Saturday night after leaders Real Madrid face Atletico in the capital’s derby clash earlier in the day.
Madrid are currently two points clear of Barca at the top of the table and Los Blancos also have a game in had, but Los Blancos have lost their last three home games against Atletico in La Liga.
Neymar celebrates Messi friendship
Barca, meanwhile, are on form after beating Sevilla 3-0 at Camp Nou on Saturday and the game against Malaga is their third in a row versus opposition from Andalusia – after the meetings with Granada and then Jorge Sampaoli’s side over the past week.
BARCELONA INJURIES
Aleix Vidal is sidelined for the remainder of the season after suffering a horrific ankle injury at Alaves in February, while Rafinha is also out after limping off in the game at Granada last weekend. Arda Turan is also still unavailable.
BARCELONA SUSPENSIONS
Gerard Pique and Ivan Rakitic are both suspended for the trip to Malaga, but Luis Enrique will likely rotate his pack anyway with a Champions League clash away to Juventus ahead on Tuesday night.
BARCELONA POTENTIAL STARTING LINE-UP
Barcelona boss Luis Enrique is set to revert back to 4-3-3 in the absence of Gerard Pique and Ivan Rakitic through suspension on Saturday.
‘Barca win will haunt PSG for generations’
That means a chance for Jodi Alba at left-back, with Sergi Roberto on the right and Javier Mascherano or Jeremy Mathieu in defence alongside Samuel Umtiti.
Andres Iniesta is likely to be rested, but Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar are all set to start.
MALAGA TEAM NEWS
Malaga’s 1-0 victory at Sporting Gijon in midweek saw the Andalusian side move eight points clear of the drop zone and ended a run of six games without a win for Michel’s men.
Isco: I’m not joining Barca
The Costa del Sol side had picked just one point in that time, but their win at Sporting has given them breathing space ahead of the match at home to Barcelona on Saturday.
Winger Keko, midfielder Zdravko Kuzmanovic and defender Bakary Kone are all out.

Sundowns, Celtic shoot blanks in Absa Premiership

Sundowns, Celtic shoot blanks in Absa Premiership

It’s back to the drawing board for Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane as the search for the elusive win continues.(SABC)
Mamelodi Sundowns stretched their winless streak in the Absa Premiership to five games as they played to a goalless draw with Bloemfontein Celtic at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria on Wednesday night.
Patrick Tignyemb was the first to be tested by Hlompho Kekana’s long range effort.
Sundowns were lucky not to concede on the half-hour mark as Celtic put them under pressure.
Tignyemb denied Castro at point blank range before Zwane’s follow up was cleared away from the line by Ndengane.
The Brazillians had the ball in the back of the net but the flag was already up ruling Kekana offside.
For the second time in the match, Sundowns came close to taking the lead but Ricardo Nascimento’s effort was clear off the line.
Downs piled the pressure on Celtic and Khama Billiat glanced the ball onto the crossbar.
Sundowns were awarded a free-kick towards the end and Modise forced a save out of the keeper.

BAFANA BAFANA SPECULATION IS TIRING, SAYS BIDVEST WITS COACH HUNt

Bafanabafana

Hunt has been linked with the coaching job at Bafana Bafana, but he insists no one has contacted him from Safa, adding that the reports can be tiring
Bafana Bafana are still without a coach almost three months after Shakes Mashaba was sacked by the South African Football Associattion (Safa).
Carlos Queiroz and Herve Renard were the favourites to take over from Mashaba, while Gavin Hunt’s name has constantly been mentioned.
The 52-year-old is arguably one of South Africa’s most decorated coaches and many believe he deserves the nod.
However, Hunt has continued to downplay reports linking him to Bafana’s top job. He reiterated that he hasn’t spoken to anyone at Safa about the vacant position.
“It’s no distraction at all,” Hunt told the media.
“Obviously they (Safa) are going about things their own way,” Hunt said.
“No one has ever spoken to me about the job, so it not a distraction although the speculation can be tiring,” he added.
Stuart Baxter is reportedly Safa’s preferred candidate as they appear to have given up on both Queiroz and Renard, but the SuperSport United coach has distanced himself from the reports.

‘UNSETTLED’ ORLANDO PIRATES FULL-BACK MATLABA LINKED WITH SUNDOWNS AND SUPERSPORT UNITED

Pirates

It is said that the Brazilians remain keen admirers of the experienced Bucs defender, who has struggled to regain his old form this season
Orlando Pirates full-back Thabo Matlaba has reportedly attracted interest from PSL sides Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United .
It has been reported that the 29-year-old defender is unsettled at the Houghton-based side, who have a new coach in Swedish tactician Kjell Jonevret.
Matlaba, who remains part of the Bafana Bafana squad, is said to be open to leaving Bucs having joined the club in January, 2012 from Free State Stars.
Pirates’ Gauteng rivals SuperSport and Sundowns are believed to be monitoring the two-footed player’s situation at the Soweto giants.
“Sundowns and SuperSport are very much keen to sign Matlaba, but they know that he has a contract with Pirates,” The Citizen source said.
“So they’re waiting for him to come out and say he wants to leave before entering any negotiations with Pirates,” the source concluded.
Matlaba, who has played 15 PSL games this season, was heavily linked with a move to Sundowns in 2014 and he was also said to be unhappy at Bucs at the time.
However, the Buccaneers moved swiftly to offer him a five-year contract which the versatile player signed and continued turning out for the team.
SuperSport coach Stuart Baxter is believed to be a huge fan of Matlaba, who made a substitute appearance during the 1-1 draw with Matsatsantsa in midweek.

WHY JUVENTUS TARGET EMRE CAN MUST CONVINCE LIVERPOOL TO SHOW HIM THE MONEY

WHY JUVENTUS TARGET EMRE CAN MUST CONVINCE LIVERPOOL TO SHOW HIM THE MONEY

Liverpool

The midfielder has much to prove until the end of the season as he’s locked in a contract dispute with the Reds and is a transfer option for Juve

Lazar Markovic had cost £10 million more, while Divock Origi recorded a goal and an assist at the World Cup in Brazil. However, the talent Liverpool were most enthused about securing in the summer of 2014 was Emre Can.
At the start of June of that year, the club revealed that a deal had been agreed in principle with Bayer Leverkusen for the young midfielder. Three days into the following month, the signing was made official and the space between both announcements was stocked with talk of what a coup it was.
Klopp: We could miss out on fourth
Bayern Munich were aggrieved to lose their buy-back option on Can, which could have been triggered in 2015, and there was an overwhelming belief at Melwood that the German would develop into one of the most commanding figures in his position.
Players and coaching staff buzzed off the new introduction, who had already featured in the Champions League, and was described as “one of the biggest talents” in his country by Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
Closing in on 1000 days since Can joined Liverpool, that early excitement has been replaced by exasperation as the 23-year-old stalls on agreeing a new contract. Juventus, meanwhile, are following the impasse with interest as they seek alternate options to their top target in the centre of the park, Lyon’s Corentin Tolisso.
Can’s camp believe he has the right to be among the top earners at Anfield, while the Reds want him to prove as much through consistent, assertive performances.
Milan fury only adds to Juve-ref controversy
Currently understood to be on £55,000 a week and set to enter the final year of his deal this summer, the club’s Young Player of 2015-16 wants to be in the same wage bracket as captain Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana.
It is the former’s role as Liverpool’s metronome that Can most covets, but he is not as effective as the No.6 in their fluid approach. Neither has he managed to make as much impact as Lallana, who was recruited in the same window, and is now central to Jurgen Klopp’s blueprint.
Alongside the England pair, Gini Wijnaldum completes Liverpool’s preferred midfield three. Can’s strengths largely contrast with the trio’s and while that has been a source of irritation at times this season, it can also be an effective weapon, as seen in the 3-1 victory against Arsenal.
He is never going to be able to dictate the tempo of his side’s play or direct their attacks as well as Henderson. He won’t be able to operate in tight spaces as impeccably as Lallana and he can’t be as efficient in possession as Wijnaldum. But, conversely, none of them are as strong as Can in aerial duels, nor as as explosive carrying the ball through the middle.
Under Klopp’s ‘simple and fast’ rule, Liverpool look more rhythmic when he is not part of the midfield three. But faced with the threat of Olivier Giroud at Anfield last weekend, against the physicality of Chelsea at the end of January, and as the Reds looked to disrupt Kevin de Bruyne’s supply to Sergio Aguero for Manchester City on New Year’s Eve, Can’s qualities were valuable.
Who could break Pogba’s transfer record?
What the Germany international needs to master, though, is how to regularly merge and sharpen his skills to complement the club’s system. Given that he has functioned as a traditional right-back, on the same side of a three-man defence, as a centre-half in a flat back-four and across the midfield, Can has the aptitude to do it.
“Whatever role he’s asked to play, he has this inbuilt brain for football that allows him to adjust and adapt,” Brendan Rodgers previously said of his signing.
Klopp, too, believes Can is far better than the sum of this season’s evidence. “Maybe if he didn’t know what I think, it would affect him, but he knows what I want,” the Reds boss commented on the contract stand-off last month.
It is not the 49-year-old’s job to push for what the player wants to earn, though; that needs to come from Can’s showings on the pitch.
Philippe Coutinho is Liverpool’s highest earner on the back of being the Player of the Season twice in succession, having a stellar start to the campaign prior to suffering ankle ligament damage and being heavily courted by both Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
RUMOURS: Man Utd plot Alexis deal

Lallana nearly doubled his package by illustrating his influence both on and off the pitch since Klopp’s arrival as boss. The Merseysiders are actively looking to fortify their midfield and enhance competition for places, with Goal
revealing RB Leipzig dynamo Naby Keita is on their radar
.
Can’s battle is not just against improved terms then, but still being in contention for one of those spots next season. He has 11 games to not only make a powerful case to the club, but provide Juventus with evidence that he shouldn’t merely be one of their back-up options.
It would be a shame if Can had to exit Liverpool in anticlimactic circumstances, given the celebratory way in which his signing was greeted.

SIPHIWE TSHABALALA SCORES 50TH GOAL FOR KAIZER CHIEFs

Siphiwe

The diminutive winger achieved the feat in the second half of his side’s 3-0 win over Stellenbosch FC at the Athlone Stadium
Siphiwe Tshabalala scored his 50th official goal for Kaizer Chiefs against Stellenbosch FC on Saturday night.
The 32-year-old drilled home from outside the box as Amakhosi booked their place in the Last 16 of the Nedbank Cip with a 3-0 win over the National First Division (NFD) side in Cape Town.
Shabba, who is celebrating 10 years at the club, scored his debut goal for Chiefs in the 4-2 win over Golden Arrows on December 12, 2007.
The former Bafana Bafana star is not a regular goalscorer, but he has been chipping in with important goals in the past 10 years.
In addition to his incredible milestone, Tshabalala has amassed close to 80 assists in all competitions for the Glamour Boys.
He is also the only player to have featured in 29 consecutive Soweto Derby matches against Orlando Pirates in the PSL era.
Having already extended his contract with Chiefs until June 2018, Shabba will be expected to break more records at the Soweto club.

UNITING AFRICA IN FOOTBALL: Q & A WITH KHAMA BILLIATBy osward kayange⚽

UNITING AFRICA IN FOOTBALL: Q & A WITH KHAMA BILLIAT

Following the xenophobic attacks in South Africa, we spoke to the PSL Player of the Year, Billiat about his life away from Zimbabwe and in SA
Goal spoke to Mamelodi Sundowns talisman Khama Billiat. The 26-year-old shared his experiences as a Zimbabwean living in South Africa and expressed how the Premier Soccer League (PSL) has played such an important role in his development.
Goal: What impact has moving to South Africa had on your football career?
Billiat: I think it has had a huge impact on my career because I have been recognised here and enjoy my football. Also it has brought the best out of myself and (I have) been able to experience the (Caf) Champions League with different clubs in Africa. It has really done a lot.
Goal: Which South African experienced players inspired and developed your game?
Billiat: There are a couple of them, players such as Surprise Moriri, Esrom Nyandoro, (Thembinkosi) Terror Fanteni. I played with Matthew Booth and Brent Carelse. All those people played a huge role in my career.
Goal: Were you a fan of the PSL from childhood, and why did you want to move to SA?
Billiat: Firstly, I was a fan of the PSL. When I was at home or at the clubhouse with the team I was playing for back home (in Zimbabwe) we used to watch the PSL. Certain teams we used to support, I remember Knowledge Musona playing and I supported Bloemfontein Celtic. We grew up looking up to the PSL and it was a dream for us coming this side.
Goal: What do you think of the stadiums, soccer facilities and infrastructure here?
Billiat: It’s really good, looking from where we come from it’s something different. The atmosphere going to the game, it’s all different. The games are televised and it’s another motivation on its own. So you live a professional life towards your potential than just being in a disadvantaged league by not getting to experience a lot. But you get to explore when you come here and get to live a professional life. It’s really good for our career.
Goal: How is the quality of life in South Africa for yourself, your family and children?
Billiat: It’s another level, you always grow up, you always looking forward to the best and you try by all means to live the best life you can lead for yourself and your family. Everything is just on a different level.
Goal: Besides your home nation, are there any other countries in Africa you’d like to play club football in?
Billiat: I’m not really sure when I’ll leave but for now I am enjoying football in South Africa. I don’t know about other leagues. For now, I am enjoying South Africa and I would only want to play overseas right now.
Goal: What is your opinion of the xenophobic attacks in SA?
Billiat: I just think in Africa we are one nation. I don’t think it is great what is happening. South Africa has been best to me and it has been home to me. It’s really sad to see our fellow brothers becoming something like that and forgetting we are one family. No one is here to harm anyone, we are just here to be happy and together. It is really sad when people start fighting over something that people are not there for. I just believe it is not good but I don’t want to believe this will happen again. I just wish that everyone would just realise that we are one people who come from the same land.
Goal: Have you experienced discrimination on the account of being a foreigner in SA or anywhere else?
Billiat: Personally, I’ve never experienced that. I’ve been welcomed everywhere I go and people have been so nice to me. I want to believe that everyone is treated the same and feels at home.
Goal: How welcome have you felt at the club and amongst all soccer followers in SA?
Billiat: I’ve been treated like a local guy and I’ve never seen discrimination from anyone that has been around me. It’s just amazing, I feel so welcomed and people are so nice everywhere I go. At Ajax Cape Town they welcomed me and here at Mamelodi Sundowns it has been the same. So I believe it’s happening everywhere and not happening only to me.
Goal: What message do you have for the South African public and soccer fans to unite all people in this continent?
Billiat: I just want to say, we thank God with the talent he gave us and we want to believe that we are making football better every time. We want to believe we make them happy. Football is just a game where it brings everyone together and to enjoy. That is all about football, to enjoy, to have fun and to bring everyone together. It is the best sport ever I want to believe. We must come together and be a family and enjoy football at its best, as long as we become united, football will always grow and take us to another level.
