MATHE: KATSANDE’S NEW DEAL SHOWS KAIZER CHIEFS HAVE LEARNED FROM PAST MISTAKES

The Zimbabwean midfielder was handed a new three-year deal this week, and Mathe is pleased that Chiefs managed to retain his services
Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Brian Mathe tells Goal the fact that Willard Katsande has penned a new deal with the club is a sign that they have learnt from their past mistakes.
Amakhosi lost a few of their key players, including Mandla Masango, Tefu Mashamaite and Reneilwe Letsholonyane after failing to agree terms with them on new contracts.
“As much as he is a defensive midfielder, he’s been the one that has been getting goals for them. So, to be the top goalscorer in the team says a lot based on how he plays, but also the commitment,” Mathe told Goal .
Katsande has chipped in with a few important goals this season, none more than the winner from outside the box at home to Polokwane City in December.
“I also think he falls within the plans of rebuilding Kaizer Chiefs. They are rebuilding Kaizer Chiefs until they find someone who can play in that position,” he said.
“I know there’s (Daniel) Cardoso, (Lorenzo) Gordinho and (Lucky) Baloyi. So, I think so far they have shown intent to keep their best players,” Mathe concluded.
Katsande confirmed soon putting pen to paper with Chiefs that he had offers from other teams.
Recent reports suggest that the 31-year-old turned down an offer from an unknown club in Dubai.
