KATSANDE SIGNS NEW KAIZER CHIEFS DEAL
The 31-year-old has agreed a new three-year extension as a reward for his consistent performances which have seen him become a regular at Amakhosi
Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Willard Katsande has signed a new contract with the club that will see him remain at Naturena until June 2020.
There were reports that the Zimbabwe international could leave Amakhosi at the end of the season, with SuperSport United tipped as favourites to land his signature.
However, he has now put the reports to bed by committing his future to the club he joined in 2011 as a relatively unknown player.
Goal reported in February that Chiefs had resumed talks with Katsande, and that they were confident of extending the midfielder’s stay beyond June 2017 .
Now, Chiefs have released an official statement confirming the news.
“Midfielder Willard Katsande has put pen to paper to confirm his stay at Naturena for another three seasons. The Zimbabwe international’s signature comes amidst much speculation about his future,” reads the statement on the Amakhosi website.
“Katsande’s new deal will run from 1 July 2017 until 30 June 2020. The hard-tackling midfielder possesses a South African permanent residence status,” the statement said.
Katsande has been an integral member of the Amakhosi squad for the past four seasons, and he continues to command a regular place in Steve Komphela’s team.
He helped the Glamour Boys win two league titles under former coach Stuart Baxter between 2013 and 2015, and since then, Katsande has hardly put his foot off the pedal.
